Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Rail Car Maintenance Supervisor to lead and oversee maintenance activities for our rail car fleet. In this role, you will ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our rail operations by managing maintenance staff and processes, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and implementing best practices in rail car maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily maintenance operations for rail cars, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Lead a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster professional growth.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, ensuring optimal uptime and reliability of rail cars.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring timely repairs and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of maintenance processes to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in rail car maintenance or a related field, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing maintenance teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations governing rail car maintenance and safety.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Preferred:
- Experience with rail car technology and systems such as braking, propulsion, and electrical systems.
- Certification in rail car maintenance or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to rail cars.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools for tracking and reporting.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
