Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Chief Welding Inspector to join our engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all welding inspection activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across our operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the welding inspection team to ensure adherence to industry standards and project specifications.
- Establish and implement inspection procedures and protocols to maintain high-quality welding practices.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and evaluations of welding processes, materials, and finished products.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify and resolve welding-related issues.
- Develop training programs for staff to enhance welding inspection skills and knowledge.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to inspection findings and quality assurance.
- Stay abreast of new welding technologies and equipment, and recommend improvements accordingly.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in welding inspection, with significant leadership experience.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of welding techniques, standards, and codes (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Proven track record of managing quality assurance processes in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- Experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the welding inspection field.
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and certifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in welding inspection equipment and technologies.
- Proficient in quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and codes.
