Sr. Associate Actuary, Retirement Inforce Management

Job Summary

F&G is hiring for an Sr. Associate Actuary on the Retirement Rate Setting team. This position is responsible for the inforce rate setting, profitability, and pricing analysis to support management planning and decision-making in accordance with established pricing guidelines and profitability targets to achieve F&G’s product strategy.

This position reports directly to the Actuary, Director of Inforce Management. The position is expected to interact with the pricing, modeling, investment, and finance teams as well as others across disciplines and functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with pricing, modeling, investment, and company management to analyze pricing for annuity inforce business
  • Responsible for the analysis and evaluation of product profitability by:
    • Conducting pricing or analysis to support inforce block evaluation
    • Assessing and updating pricing metrics used to evaluate product profitability
    • Evaluating potential financial impacts of rate setting decisions
    • Creating summary of product profitability
  • Make informed decisions based on a thorough understanding of product, profitability, investments, and risk
  • Update pricing files, create documentation, and ensure appropriate governance procedures are followed
  • Create analysis of Retirement products and recommendations for use in company planning or forecasting
  • Support the integration of new products, reinsurance treaties, and other updates to pricing metrics and management reporting
  • Develop and implement enhancements to create repeatable and scalable processes

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science or related degree or equivalent experience
  • ASA required; FSA and MAAA Preferred
  • 4+ years actuarial experience with progressively more responsibility
  • Annuity product background preferred but not required, with preference for Fixed Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, or Registered Indexed Linked Annuity experience
  • Experience within various actuarial functions with an understanding of pricing, investments, and financial metrics
  • Experience with and knowledge of GGY AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software

  • Strong problem-solving skills with analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Unconditional integrity and commitment to delivering accurate information on schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and to support project decisions to achieve desired outcomes
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in changing environments, managing the delivery of projects in addition to individual tasks and processes
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical audiences at various levels, either through verbal or written forms of communication

  • Perform other functions, duties, and projects as assigned
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • No travel is required for this position
