Data Infrastructure Engineer

At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and we are looking for a professional Data Infrastructure Engineer to join our UniQue Ispra team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our customers in the public sector and you will be responsible for developing new business by identifying profitable opportunities, maintaining your client portfolio by building strong, long-lasting relationships, and monitoring the progress of the projects, with the aim to provide excellent client service and added value services.

What will you be bringing to the team?

• Evaluate the services of the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem for data discovery, access, pre-processing, and analytics with regard to functionality, usability, consistency, and performance.
• Assess the possibility of a hybrid solution between BDAP and CDSE for Copernicus data analysis.
• Configuration and further development of Kubernetes (K8s) cloud-native infrastructure and applications on the BDAP platform.
• Set up a batch processing test service on the remote CDSE platform that can be integrated with the BDAP batch service.
• Set up workflows for transparent integration of BDAP and CDSE dataarchives and the implementation of a dynamic data caching mechanism.
• Set up an instance of OpenEO on BDAP and assess its integration with the CDSE OpenEO data service (while using openEO Aggregator Driver).
• Documentation of work (configurations, routines, scripts, etc) in the project wiki and code repositories.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed in this position?

Good knowledge of Docker container environments and deployment and management of Kubernetes (K8s) services.

Sound experience in UNIX/Linux environments.

Experience in Python and bash programming.

Good working knowledge of English

Previous experience in using OpenStack-based platforms would be an asset.

Knowledge of handling and analysis of geospatial data would be an asset.
