The Data Scientist is responsible for building and creating analytical solutions for data-driven marketing. The Data Scientist leverages supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to optimize all aspects of the marketing value chain (targeting, bid optimization, messaging, media preference, Text-to-Speech). Additionally, this role will have interdepartmental responsibility by supporting new product development and data best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop repeatable automated “data wrangling” processes across multiple incoming data streams (performance, suitability, optimization, categorization, and more)
  • Advise and develop features to create greater explanatory value from data sets
  • Exploratory data analysis to determine trends within the data that explain performance
  • Build models to leverage multiple algorithms (logistic regression, random forest, GBM, RNN, CNN, CHAID, etc)
  • Conduct Text Mining (Sentiment Analysis, TF-IDF, etc) concerning our suitability scoring
  • Create code deployable as automated routines in production environments
  • Model validation activities
  • Enable supervised and unsupervised analysis of ad campaigns
  • Build data visualizations to quickly communicate trends within campaigns
  • Partner with client servicing teams to create presentations summarizing the results of campaign optimizations, highlighting key learnings & future actions
  • Develop streamlined solutions on data visualization that the Client Servicing team can employ
  • Lead in marketplace analysis and trending to inform Strategists on pricing and Media buyers on buying tactics
  • Partner with Design to develop and productize a client-facing visualization of campaign data & insights
  • Establish statistically valid measurement practices to communicate unimpugnable campaign results
  • Run ad-hoc analyses related to Product builds and Requirements to drive data-driven Product direction

Requirements

  • BA/Master’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or Applied Mathematics
  • 3 or more years of applied statistical analysis
  • 3 or more years of experience with Python (Preferred) or R or Scala
  • 3 or more years of experience with SQL
  • For Python users with intermediate or better knowledge of scikit-learn or Keras, pandas, and NumPy, matplotlib or ggplot or boheh, and database interfaces
  • For R users with intermediate or better knowledge of tidyverse (dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2, etc.), caret, gbm, randomForest, database interfaces (RODBC, dbi, RMySQL, etc)
  • 10-15% travel per year for onsite team meetings

  • Natural curiosity about systems, data, and behaviors
  • Independent self-starter with the ability to execute with limited supervision
  • Effective communicator with the ability to convey complex ideas in simple general terms
  • Resourceful in the development of solutions
  • Experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, or Redshift)
  • Experience in AdTech or data-driven marketing
