Accountant (US GAAP)

The Accountant provides financial services to each of the company. Duties include general accounting, month-end reporting, analysis, and governance, regulatory and corporate compliance while providing timely information and support to both the communities and home office.

Job funtions:

• Work closely with the directors of finance, accounting department and others within the organization to ensure journal entries and other transactions are accurately and timely recorded
• Prepare daily reconciliations for cash accounts
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies
• Work closely with the accounting/finance team and others within the organization to ensure open and accurate communications and excellent customer service
• Identify and resolve issues as they arise, and determine the process and controls needed to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future
• Assist in the preparation of month-end, quarterly and annual reports, consolidation, and other reporting as assigned
• Work with the controller on special projects
• Assist with the budget, forecasting and audit processes as requested
• Continuously pursue process improvement and embraces best practices in the accounting function
• Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or an associate’s degree with five years of demonstrated experience in accounting.
• Two to three years accounting experience.
• Knowledge of US GAAP.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to effectively communicate in person and over the phone.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Detail oriented, with problem solving skills to ensure accuracy.
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to navigate through multiple systems. Spreadsheet, software, and hardware proficient.
• Must be self-motivated and work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must demonstrate strong analytical skills along with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
• Proficiency in English, (the team is based in the U.S).
