A Brief Overview
The Manager, Benefits Consulting is responsible for delivering exceptional benefits expertise focused services meeting TriNet's best practice standards and client contractual specifications while achieving service quality targets by managing a team of Benefits Consultants. This position helps TriNet clients and colleagues understand benefits renewal and investments by providing timely and thorough benefits consultation support under the supervision of a Director, Benefits Consulting.

What you will do

  • Drive departmental goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, coaching and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and implementing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards through group and individual meetings.
  • Cultivate an environment of creativity and accountability by empowering colleagues to work collaboratively through issues, provide peer feedback and insight and rewarding results.
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and service level agreement metrics; overseeing benefits consulting matters raised to the team and advancing issues to leadership and legal as needed; identifying trends in volume and topics; and recommending system and process improvements.
  • Develop and execute timely and effective training for existing and new colleagues to ensure deep benefits expertise in all areas of client benefit renewal and strategy.
  • Collaborate with Benefits Management Group and Senior Benefits Consulting Teams to establish cross departmental mentorship and training opportunities to deepen the foundational benefits consulting skills for client-facing colleagues.
  • Provide oversight and management of the client interaction model and process.
  • Monitor SFDC cases and other analytics to ensure service delivery commitments and to analyze trends for impact on unique industries/verticals and training gaps and opportunities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing and contributing to professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Collaborate with leaders throughout the organization to identify potential candidates for promotion into the team and develop stretch assignments to increase their insight into team function with the goal of creating career pathing opportunities and maintaining a recurrent virtual bench
  • Ensure proper and effective resolution of complicated benefits consulting issues and challenging client interactions.
  • Support colleagues with benefits and compliance by offering best practice guidance and collaborating directly with the Benefits Compliance team, as needed.
  • Contribute to projects applying thought leadership on benefits trend, regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Work with Insurance Services leadership to build the Benefits Consulting model and respond to the current needs of the organization. Plan for staffing based on the expectations for the Benefits Consulting team
  • May be called on to conduct timely and thorough benefits strategy consultation, prepare written analytics and participate in delivery of challenging client conversations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 5+ years Benefits/Human Resource generalist experience with a concentration in benefits renewal in addition to specialist experience required with an emphasis on sophisticated benefits strategy and consultative matters. At least one year of leadership experience. preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic skills to effectively and efficiently perform mathematical computation for pricing and conducting data analysis required
  • Ability to operate a personal computer to accomplish work and leverage technology to gain efficiencies required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to connect with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of both state and federal employment laws
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • A proven commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced constantly evolving business and work environment while handling multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skill and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and ability to explain and provide advice on all aspects of benefits plan design, pricing and strategy.
  • Ability to work independently to drive benefits investment strategies with clients tying strategy total rewards.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely, effective, efficient, and economic delivery of services.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Life and Health Certification preferred
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)-IFEBP preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred

The salary range for this role is $85,500 to $205,200. The candidate’s final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience.

A candidate’s compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
