Giant are hiring a Lighting TD for an exciting CG production.
Position Overview
This opportunity is a full-time position, with the candidate required to reside in the Republic of Ireland. We provide flexible working arrangements, including on-site, fully remote, or hybrid options.
The Lighting TD role applies to a candidate with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience as a Lighting Artist or a similar technical role. Applicants must have extensive experience in a technical role, with proven experience trouble-shooting shots and asset-level issues across multiple departments - in particular Lighting, Composting, and Rendering (Animation, and Assets a plus).

Position Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Art Director, CG Supervisor(s) and Lighting and Comp Team as needed to ensure every shot is stress tested and meets the technical requirements of the production.
- Resolve shot and asset-level technical issues on behalf of the Lighting and Comp Lead(s) and artists.
- Report advanced or extreme technical issues to the Lighting and Comp Supervisor(s) and CG Supervisor(s).
- Manage and distribute critical local and farm-based technical tasks (tests/assessments) with the assistance of tech support artists (Render Support/ Ingest) and collate and report on findings to Lighting and Comp Supervisor/Leads and Production Management.
- Flag any tech issues that will affect scheduling or rendering performance with Lighting and Comp Supervisor and Production Management in good time.
- Provide solutions and feedback on rendering issues to the Lighting team(s), Render Support, Ingest and other roles conducting rendering on the farm.
- Manage and conduct technical training tutorials of critical technical fixes if required by Leads/Supervisor(s).
- Have the ability to effectively and time-consciously prioritise and execute tasks based on delivery dates.
- Maintain efficient workflows and be fully aware of methods to reduce render overheads and make shot work as optimised as possible.
- Receive reports from Render Wrangler on farm-related issues, identify causes and formulate solutions.
- Work with Ingest to troubleshoot asset-level issues.
- Log all technical issues through ShotGrid.
- Assist with the development of in-house wikis.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in CG/Animation production.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a technical role or TD capacity.
- Demonstrable understanding of the full CG pipeline, especially post-production.
- Strong working knowledge of 3D software, including Maya, Nuke, Deadline, Arnold, Substance Designer and Painter, Mari, Photoshop, and Houdini (preferred).
- Strong understanding of ShotGrid Production Management Software.
- Well-versed in Python, and Mel Programming Languages.
- Strong leadership skills and a measurable track record of delivering against project goals or tight deadlines.
- Be organised and proactive with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
